I come from a land of distractions. The crack and peel of crawfish. Blaring accordions and Zydeco-swingin’ hips. Mounds of sugar atop the King Cake. Frenzied football fans. Festivals of festivals where soil-skinned children peddle water bottles outside of fairgrounds, in hopes of leaving with pocket change.
